Opt Outside

We have a lot to be thankful for, living in the Pacific Northwest.  This holiday season instead of watching the new season of Selling Sunset while dinner is cooking, how about checking out one of our great local trails here on the Central Oregon Coast?   The best part, you don’t have to travel far to experience these perfect slices of Northwest beauty.  Keep reading for 3 local trails that can be accessed within 60 miles of Newport, OR

Forest Park – Newport, OR

Right in our back yard, this trail can be accessed from the Eastside neighborhood of Newport, or Agate Beach.  It is a great place to take the dog, search for PNW mushrooms, and burn off some pre-dinner calories.

Cape Perpetua Lookout – Yachats, OR

Cape Perpetua is a breath taking scenic area on the Oregon Coast.  Home to Thors Well, Devils Punch Bowl and more.  This hike provides bird eye views of the whole region.  You might even see some whales on the horizon!

Hobbit Trail – Florence, OR

The name really says it all.  The trail is fairly short, but what it lakes in distance, it makes up for it in whimsy.  Not to mention the beautiful private beach you find yourself at the end.  Take your camera and a kite and leave some time to check out the Heceta Head Lighthouse afterwards.
